San Juan County is located in southwestern Colorado. It is a sparsely populated area (population 570, according to the 2000 U.S. Census) in the heart of the San Juan mountains. Silverton is the county seat and only incorporated town in the county. San Juan County is best known for it's stunning mountain scenery and mining history.
