Huerfano County is located in south central Colorado. It is a rural county with Walsenberg as its county seat. The towns of La Veta, Pryor, Farisita, Gardner and Red Wing are within county limits. It is bordered by the Sangre de Cristo Range to the west, the Spanish Peak range to the south and the Wet Mountains to the north. Huerfano County is home of the Cuchara Mountain Ski Resort and Lathrop State Park.
